Met up with a few other Flickr photographers after the zoo closed and were taken on an up close and personal tour which offered many photo opportunities that aren’t available during open hours. There’s been rumors that the program won’t be offered much longer which would be a real shame, even the tour guide had a lot of fun getting close and seeing some of the animals she doesn’t usually get to see during the day.

For $15, they take you a bit more behind the scenes, down the staff access areas and even open up some of the cages for even closer looks at the animals (as was the instance for the Red Pandas).

I’d love to go again, maybe next time I’ll rent a 70-200mm f/2.8L zoom lens, had some good shots but a lot of noise due to shooting at 1600 ISO.

Well my Fave of the Day is one of the first I found on flickr that I really liked… I love the tightness of the shot and the closeness to it… the reflection is definitely what makes the photo!

Some pictures turn out better with the style applied to it, some it doesn’t work at all… anyways I’ve done about 65 that work in one fashion or another – going back to 2002! Here’s some small samples of some of what I think are the better ones… take a glance and click the image of the house below to see the rest! I think the one I am most impressed with is the white tiger… visit the photo, then click in the description to see the original file.
